There's more to living a long, healthy life than avoiding illness and injuries. From what I've learned over the past 10 years of testing and refining my own longevity stack, it starts with keeping the body's building blocks strong and supported as you age.
Some supplements are designed to do exactly that by helping your cells function properly, recycling damaged components, and clearing out tired, worn-out cells.
These are called longevity-focused supplements, and they include compounds like NAD+ boosters, fisetin, urolithin A, and spermidine, which all work at a deep cellular level, where aging begins.
But there's another group of supplements that might not directly influence cellular cleanup or mitochondrial renewal, but they still play a big role in how you age. We call these systemic longevity support supplements, and they include things like magnesium, omega-3, and vitamin D. These compounds keep your heart, brain, and immune system running smoothly — all of which are non-negotiable if you want to stay sharp, mobile, and energized in your golden years.
At Neurogan Health, we've been creating and selling longevity supplements for over two years now, but we’ve been in the health space for nearly a decade. In that time, we've been lucky to connect with a growing community passionate about living better for longer. As part of this mission, we've also been writing about the longevity routines of some of today's leading biohackers and researchers. So far, we've covered Bryan Johnson, David Sinclair, Andrew Huberman, Gary Brecka, and Mark Hyman.
And there's more coming.
We hope this overview guide gives you a clearer picture of what longevity supplements are, helping you choose the right ones for your own wellness journey.
Best Longevity Supplements
Nicotinamide Mononucleotide

NMN is a form of vitamin B3 that exists in small quantities in certain foods like broccoli and edamame beans. It's a direct precursor to an important enzyme called NAD (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide), which is an important coenzyme our cells need to produce energy.
When it comes to longevity, NAD levels serve as an indicator of the aging process. Studies have shown that lower NAD levels are linked to reduced energy levels, slower recovery, and decreased insulin sensitivity [1].
The most common form of NMN supplements are capsules. The body takes NMN and converts it directly into NAD within the cells, helping to increase the body's NAD levels.
Neurogan Health's NMN capsules contain pure, third-party, lab-tested NMN without any fillers or fuss in vegan-friendly capsules, making them easy to integrate into most supplement stacks.
Nicotinamide Riboside

Nicotinamide riboside (NR) is another NAD+ booster. It's also naturally found in foods like milk, and the body converts this compound into NMN before it turns into NAD+.
Yes, it does take a few extra steps, but studies show that it's also efficient at increasing NAD levels [2].
You might find that there are more nicotinamide riboside supplement options out there as well. Not because it's necessarily safer or better than NMN — but because NMN is going through a bit of an identity crisis.
In 2022, a company put forth a request to investigate the potential of NMN as an anti-aging drug through clinical trials. This process stripped NMN's label as a dietary supplement, and many NMN products were taken off the shelves. Since then, there hasn't been much news on whether they're still continuing this pursuit, but a compound can't be both a drug and a supplement. Still, you can find NMN from certain brands, but it's often much easier to source NR supplements.
Fisetin
Fisetin is a plant flavonoid most commonly associated with strawberries. In its pure form, fisetin is a bright yellow powder, and it's used as a dietary supplement for its high antioxidant content and its potential as a senolytic compound.
Senolytics help the body tag and clear out senescent (damaged, non-dividing) cells that build up with age.
Our pure fisetin capsules are made from Rhus succedanea extract (Japanese wax tree), a rich natural source of fisetin and highly refined for purity. We make our supplements in-house at our San Diego GMP-certified facility to offer the most competitive price points for our products.
CoEnzyme Q10
CoEnzyme Q10, or CoQ10, is a common dietary supplement for supporting cardiovascular health. It's a naturally made compound in the body, but you can also get it in your diet from meat, fish, and nuts.
The body uses coQ10 to help generate energy in the mitochondria. It also acts as an antioxidant, protecting cells from oxidative damage from stress or environmental factors.
CoQ10 comes in capsules that you can easily find at your local pharmacy or health food store. Our Neurogan Health CoQ10 contains pure coQ10 with added black pepper powder to help with efficient absorption.
Taurine
Taurine is an amino acid found in meat and foods, and it's a common ingredient in energy drinks and sports supplement formulas. What's interesting about taurine is that it's not a typical amino acid because it's not used as a building block for proteins. Instead, taurine floats freely in tissues and has its own set of jobs to perform, especially in the brain, heart, retinas, and muscles.
Taurine helps support cell hydration and mineral balance, mitochondrial function, calcium signaling, and muscle recovery, and it's what's known as "conditionally essential." This means our bodies can produce taurine, but not enough when we’re stressed (even working out a lot can put stress on the body), sick, or aging. Recent studies link taurine levels to healthy aging in animals [3].
The Neurogan Health taurine capsules provide 1200 mg of pure vegan-based taurine, allowing you to get high, consistent doses that suit a variety of diets.
Spermidine
Spermidine is a naturally occurring polyamine — a technical term for a small molecule made up of carbon, nitrogen, and hydrogen — it's important for healthy aging because it's involved in cell growth and maintenance.
You can get trace amounts of spermidine through your diet if you consume a lot of aged cheeses, soybeans, wheat germ, and mushrooms, but to get the real benefits for cellular health, you'll want a high-quality supplement.
Spermidine is best known for supporting autophagy. This is the body's recycling process of damaged cell parts, which often slows down as we age.
At Neurogan Health, spermidine is one of our top-selling healthy aging supplements. It’s available in tablet, liposomal capsule, and liquid form — but up to 100 times more concentrated and pure than wheat germ extract.
Resveratrol
Resveratrol is one of the most recognized compounds in the longevity space. It first caught widespread attention with the "French Paradox." Researchers were trying to understand why people in France have relatively low rates of heart disease despite a diet high in fats. One reason that might explain this is that resveratrol is found in red wine, and France is a renowned wine-producing country [4].
Resveratrol is a polyphenol found in grapes and other berries that has several key healthy aging pathways, particularly regarding cellular stress resistance, healthy inflammatory control, and gene activation [5].
Neurogan Resveratrol is sourced from Japanese knotweed, which is known for its high potency and bioavailability. We have pure resveratrol capsules, or if you’re looking for a blend, we formulate resveratrol alongside NAD+ boosters like NAD+ and NMN for a powerful, ready-made, healthy aging stack.
Pterostilbene
Pterostilbene comes from the same family as resveratrol and is an antioxidant in plants, but it has been called the "better-absorbed cousin" of resveratrol.
What makes pterostilbene unique is its chemical composition. It has two methoxyl groups instead of hydroxyl groups — a small change with significant differences in how the body handles it. Several studies show that pterostilbene is much more stable and better absorbed in the gut, allowing the compound to reach your cells and tissues for its cellular health benefits [6].
Both resveratrol and pterostilbene have similar longevity pathways through the activation of sirtuins (SIRt1) that support healthy aging at the cellular level and strong antioxidant support, helping to manage inflammation and DNA damage [6].
One of our favorite pterostilbene supplements comes from Thorne in its Memoractiv™ blend. It contains pterostilbene and other cognitive function supplements like ginkgo, bacopa, and lutein, making it more targeted for memory, productivity, and creativity. One thing to note is that this formula contains 50 mg of caffeine, which could be a bonus for some but might not suit those sensitive to caffeine.
Quercetin
Quercetin is another plant flavonoid found in apples and green tea. It's a unique compound in the longevity supplement space because it acts like a multi-tool: it supports senolytic activity and has antioxidant and immune-modulating properties.
Quercetin isn't as powerful as a senolytic compound as fisetin, but they're often combined in formulations for their synergetic effects [7]. What makes this compound appealing for some is that it also has strong anti-inflammatory potential through the NF-κB pathway, which may contribute to healthy inflammation levels to help with allergies and some of the hallmarks of the aging process [8].
Pure Encapsulations offers an excellent, affordable quercetin supplement made with no fillers and easy to integrate alongside other supplement stacks.
Alpha-ketoglutarate (AKG)
AKG is a compound naturally occurring in the body and is involved in the Krebs cycle (energy production from the foods we eat) and amino acid metabolism. Although the body naturally produces AKG, it declines with age.
Not only does AKG help with energy production, but it's been shown to modulate systemic inflammation and muscle protein synthesis, which are staples in anti-aging protocols, especially for active adults [9].
Doublewoods has an AKG supplement for a good value with top-rated reviews.
Berberine
Berberine is a plant-based alkaloid most commonly taken as a dietary supplement for blood sugar and metabolic health. More recently, it's gained a lot more attention in the longevity space because research has found that berberine may mimic some of the effects of calorie restriction and exercise at a cellular level — both proven to extend the lifespan of many organisms [10].
Berberine isn't known for cleaning out old cells (senolytic) like fisetin or boosting mitochondrial function like NMN, but it does help the body stay balanced by keeping blood sugar and inflammation in check, which is really important for a healthy aging process.
Neurogan Health Berberine is naturally sourced and refined for purity for a clean-label formula with no artificial colors or fillers.
Essential Vitamins and Minerals for Longevity
Compounds like NMN and fisetin work at the cellular level, but vitamins and minerals also contribute to keeping your entire body running smoothly. Without these components, even the best longevity stacks can fall flat.
Here's a compilation of systemic longevity support nutrients — we've categorized them separately because they may not directly contribute to autophagy or mitochondrial renewal, but they're still just as important for keeping vital systems in check as you get older.

Best Longevity Blends
Longevity blend supplements are great for people who want a simple way to get all these cellular health compounds without buying several separate supplements. The upside is that they're convenient and often formulated by experts to work well together. But one downside is that you can't always control the exact dose of each ingredient, and sometimes you're paying for stuff you don't need.
Overall, they're a good place to start for people who want a balanced, all-in-one option without having to build a stack from scratch. Some of our favorite longevity blends include:
