In a randomized crossover study, oral spermidine raised plasma spermine but not plasma spermidine or putrescine. The authors suggest spermidine is converted before it reaches the bloodstream, so a larger oral amount does not mean proportionally more spermidine in the blood.
Senekowitsch et al., 2023A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of a high-purity spermidine trihydrochloride found no significant changes in clinical, lipid, chemistry or blood measures, no product-related adverse events, and little change in circulating polyamines. It did not test 20 mg a day, women, long-term use or this product, and two authors worked for the ingredient’s maker.
Keohane et al., 2024A randomized, placebo-controlled pilot after a third SARS-CoV-2 vaccine dose found the supplement well tolerated, with stronger vaccine responses mainly in people who had responded poorly, and more autophagy-related gene activity in B cells. It was small and specific to this setting.
Alsaleh et al., 2026The SmartAge trial tested a spermidine-rich wheat germ extract in adults with subjective cognitive decline. It did not improve the main memory outcome compared with placebo. The ingredient and amount differ from this product.
